Visit the Old Herman Schoolhouse

— SELINSGROVE — The Herman School, located in Penn Township, is the oldest original remaining one-room school in Snyder County. It is located near the intersection on Salem Road, three miles from Route 522. The school will be open for tours on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. Other times are available by calling Bill Clawser at (570) 837-6961.

Volunteers maintain the building and provide tours. Interested people are invited to join this worthwhile effort. Annual dues are $10 for adults and lifetime dues at $100. Send checks to Treasurer Mary Sullivan, 1165 Red Bank Road, Mifflinburg, PA 17844-6806.

Each year a $300 scholarship is awarded to a worthy senior who will be pursing a career in education from Midd-West and Selinsgrove Area school districts. This year’s recipients are Alysia Miller and Darrian Keller.
