Midd-West Students Selected to Attend Agricultural Conference

— MIDDLEBURG -- Two Midd-West High School students have been selected to attend the 2014 Fueling Agriculture and Cultivating Excellence (FACE) Conference.  

Junior Carlie DeLong and sophomore Samantha DeLong are two of 100 students selected from across the state to participate in this conference presented by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Attendees were selected based upon their extracurricular and leadership involvement.

The FACE conference is a one-week summer residential program held at Bucknell University for high school students from June 16-19. Attendees will gain insight into the creation of agricultural policy, experience mock legislative sessions, and develop career skills for the future. Each attendee receives a $255 scholarship covering all costs.

Carlie, 17, is Midd-West FFA Chapter secretary and Snyder, Union, Northumberland (SUN) Area FFA secretary. She is a member of Midd-West’s bowling team and raises white-tailed deer for her Supervised Agricultural Experience project. Carlie plans to attend the University of Nebraska to major in wildlife biology.

Samantha, 15, is an active member of the bowling, field hockey, and FFA parliamentary procedure teams. She is the treasurer of the Midd-West FFA Chapter and raises rabbits and chickens for her Supervised Agricultural Experience project. Samantha plans to attend Pennsylania State University to major in agricultural business management.
