Sunbury Shrine Club Makes $19,500 Donation

SUNBURY — The Sunbury Shrine Club has reported the results of its fundraising activities for 2012. With the support of the Susquehanna Motorcycle Club and the Masonic Motorcycle Club, Chapter 19, and donations and fundraiser events, a total of $19,500 was donated to the Shriners Philadelphia Childrens Hospital and Irem Transportation Fund.

Pediatric Orthopedic has been a tradition at the Philadelphia Unit of the Shriners Hospital since 1926. The hospital provides a complete range of specialized medical and rehabilitation services to children, from birth to 18 years of age, who have orthopedic problems or have suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury.

This service is available to all children regardless of race, religion, or relationship to a Shriner and at no cost to the patient, parent or third party.

Ron Benfer, who is in charge of hospital recruitment, reported the club provided transportation for 30 trips to the Philadelphia hospital in 2012.

Sunbury Shrine officers for 2013 include: Malcolm Delsite Jr., president; Ben Thomas, vice president; Al Deans, secretary; Maurice Clouser, treasurer.
