SUNBURY — The Susquehanna Reading Council announces its January program: “An Evening with Amelia Bedelia” presented by Kay Poeth. Amelia Bedelia is the book character who takes everything literally. Enjoy a fun-filled session exploring word play with Amelia Bedelia.
Educators, administrators, and student teachers are invited to attend the Jan. 23, SVRC meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 160 Chestnut St., Sunbury. The PA Common Core Standards states that by third grade students need to distinguish literal from non-literal language. Amelia Bedelia does exactly what she is told to do. So come and meet Amelia Bedelia and be ready to chuckle at all of her hilarious predicaments. The SVRC meeting has it all: PA Common Core (literal and nonliteral language), evidence of Domain 4 for the new PDE Teacher Evaluation (commendation letter for all teachers/support staff), one Act 48 credit hour, a free literacy packet of activities and resources, and Amelia Bedelia. The “icing on the cake” is that the presentation is free.
Educators are reminded that Act 48 credit will be provided, so bring your PDE number to the meeting. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Janice Adair at firstname.lastname@example.org
