MIFFLINBURG — The Peace Poster Contest is a project of Lions Club International which means young people all over the world, in over 200 countries, were thinking about this year’s theme, ”Our World, Our Future”. Then they put their thoughts into a picture in their minds and onto a poster, to be submitted to their local Lions Club for judging.
“Our World, Our Future” was the theme of this year’s contest, and 18 Mifflinburg Area Middle School students entered the contest, sponsored by the Millmont, West Union Area Lions Club. The posters were judged by a committee of Lions Club members on Originality, Artistic work, and Presenting the Theme, “Our World, Our Future”. The top three winners, plus an honorable mention winner, were honored, along with their families, at a recent Lions Club meeting.
Winning the Honorable Mention award was Savannah Snyder. Third Place winner was Emily Kerstetter. Second Place winner was Molly Kerstetter.
First Place winner was Audrey MacPherson. Her poster was submitted to the Pennsylvania Lions District 14G, to be judged along with other winning posters submitted by Lions Clubs in the District. Audrey’s poster was judged second best in the District, which is comprised of Lions Clubs in 12 counties (Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga and Union).
Each winning entry student received a monetary award, a certificate and photos of their poster.
