Library hosting second annual summer reading photography contest

The Daily Item

— LEWISBURG — Attention all shutterbugs, it’s time to “dig into the unknown” with The Public Library for Union County’s second annual amateur photography contest “Union County: Off the Beaten Path,” in conjunction with the annual summer reading program. This year, photographers are encouraged to go “beneath the surface” and capture the uniqueness of Union County — from beautiful landscapes to the abstract and artistic.

Amateur photographers of all ages in Union County and the surrounding areas are encouraged to enter for a chance to win the grand prize: professional framing of the winning photo by The Open Door Gallery, Lewisburg. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place winners, as well as for People’s Choice.

Photos are accepted at the library until 5 p.m. July 31. Entrants must fill out an entry form when submitting photos and only one photo will be accepted per entrant. Photos will be on display at the library the entire month of August.

The People’s Choice voting takes place through Aug. 21, when all photos are judged by a panel of local art enthusiasts. Winners are announced Aug. 22.

For entry form and rules, stop by the library at 255 Reitz Boulevard, Lewisburg or visit the library’s website at www.publibuc.org and download information from the Children’s Teen’s or Adult’s pages. For additional information call (570) 523-1172.
