Geisinger to host athletic training camp for high school students

— DANVILLE — The sports medicine division of the Geisinger Orthopaedic Institute will host its first athletic training camp for high school students and incoming college freshmen interested in learning about the profession of athletic training. The camps will be held at Geisinger Medical Center Outpatient Surgery Center-Woodbine Lane, 115 Woodbine Lane, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 16-19.

Students will be able to discover the world of athletic training with lecture and laboratory based activities, gain a better understanding of the profession and be able to perform basic skills. Topics to be covered include: basic anatomy, prevention and care, emergency care, taping and rehabilitation.

The cost of the camp is $100 and includes lunch each day, materials, a gift and a t-shirt.

Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes, shorts and a t-shirt to accommodate hands-on activities.
