— MIFFLINBURG -- The final ASPIRES recipients for the 2013-14 school year have been announced by Mifflinburg Intermediate School principal, Scott Zimmerman.

This monthly Kiwanis-sponsored award is given to students in grades three through five who have displayed positive anti-bullying behaviors such as respect, kindness, school safety, acceptance of differences, and including all in their peer circles. Students are chosen by the homeroom teachers and each received a special certificate and cash award at the school’s final assembly on May 29.

In third grade, Logan Othoudt, son of Kristi and Chad Othoudt, is being recognized. He is in Mrs. Finerghty’s homeroom, lives in Mifflinburg and has two brothers. His favorite subject is math. Logan plays football for the Eagles, enjoys camping and playing with his friends. He is unsure what his future career choice might be.

Alec Klinger, from Mrs. Warren’s fourth grade, is this month’s recipient. He is the son of Troy and Shauna Klinger, of Mifflinburg, He has two brothers and his favorite class is math. Alec loves sports and plays basketball, soccer, golf and is on the Orioles baseball team. He enjoys collecting model tractors and hopes to someday become an engineer.

Selected from Mrs. Hoy’s fifth grade class is Hailey Kenamond. She is the daughter of Dan and Heather Kenamond. She has two brothers and lives in Mifflinburg. Her favorite class is gym and she sings in the school choir. Hailey plays soccer and enjoys going to the beach. She would like to babysit in the future.
