MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for February. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont, West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Ishmail Guler, sixth grade, is the son of Eda and Birol Guler, of Lewisburg. In school, his favorite subject is science and he is a member of TSA and plays basketball. Other sports he enjoys are football and soccer. Ishmail likes to read books, and in the future he would like to be a surgeon in the medical field.
Levi Showalter, seventh grade, is the son of Lori Jo and David Showalter, of Millmont. His favorite subject in school is tech ed. and he is a member of TSA and the Stock Market Club. He is a Boy Scout and in the youth group at his church. Levi enjoys reading, playing video games and cycling. In the future he would like to be a book critic.
Abigail Lohr, eighth grade, is the daughter of Timothy and Cindy Lohr, of Mifflinburg. Communications and gym are her favorite subjects, and she is a member of the Builders Club and the softball team. She is also on the ASA traveling softball team. Other things she likes to do are: babysitting, cooking, reading, running, drawing and coloring, and spending time with friends and family. In the future, Abigail would like to be a kindergarten teacher.
