New Berlin Cardboard Boat Regatta to be held July 4

— NEW BERLIN — The New Berlin Activities Committee will host its second annual cardboard boat regatta on July 4, in conjunction with the Fourth of July activities of the day.

First, second and third place trophies will be awarded for creative/spirit awards, as well as the Titanic Award, which will be given to the team of the boat that sinks in the most spectacular fashion.

Registration for boats will be held from noon to 3 p.m. and boat inspections will take place from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the New Berlin Commons Pavilion, along Penns Creek. The race begins at 4 p.m.

Other events include volleyball tournaments at 9 a.m., quoits pitching tournaments at 10:30 a.m., horseshoe pitching tournaments at 1 p.m., the 49th annual Turtle Derby at 1 p.m., cow flop bingo at 4:30 p.m., entertainment by Jim Wetzel from 6 to 8 p.m., a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., a chicken barbecue from 10:30 a.m. to noon, culminating a fireworks display at 10 p.m.
