Shikelamy School District Band Achievements

SELECTED

Susquehanna Valley Band — High School

Amanda Benner, Christa Beveridge, Kellen Kane, Katlyn Koppen,  Leah Marquette, Ryan Neidig, Heidi Ross, Pauline Steingrabe, Christi Straight, Halia Vankirk and Joe Villatoro from Shikellamy High School participated in the Susquehanna Valley Band Festival which was held at Mifflinburg High School Jan. 18-19. The festival featured over 120 of the best high school musicians from the Lewisburg, Midd-West, Mifflinburg, Milton, Selinsgrove, Shikellamy and Warrior Run school districts. Kellen Kane received a scholarship for further studies.



Susquehanna Valley Band — Middle School

Isaac Breon, Victoria Brubaker, Derek Bussey, Brianna Culp, Loyd Diaz, Sarah Fedder, Hannah Frye, Tyler Kerstetter,  Lauren Marczyk, Sara Stansbury, Kyle Stevens Carlea Treas and Alyssa Webb represented the  Shikellamy Middle School in the Susquehanna Valley Band Festival which was held at Mifflinburg High School Jan. 18-19. The festival featured over 120 of the best high school musicians from the Lewisburg, Midd-West, Mifflinburg, Milton, Selinsgrove, Shikellamy and Warrior Run school districts. Carlea Treas received a scholarship for future studies in music.



District Band

Christa Beveridge, Kellen Kane, Katlyn Koppen, Leah Marquette, Ryan Neidig, Heidi Ross and Pauline Steingrabe from Shikellamy High School participated in the PMEA District 8 Band Festival which was held at Milton High School Jan. 24-26. The festival featured over 150 of the best high school musicians from over 40 school districts.

The guest conductor was Mark Lortz from Stevenson University, Stevenson, MD. The festival host was Brett Hosterman from Milton Area High School.



District Orchestra

Kellen Kane, from Shikellamy High School, participated in the PMEA District 8 Orchestra Festival which was held at Shamokin Area School Jan. 10-12. The festival featured over 150 of the best high school musicians from over 40 school districts. Festival host was Barbara DeGaetano. John Conahan was the guest conductor.



Region Band

Christa Beveridge, Kellen Kane, Heidi Ross and Pauline Steingrabe from Shikellamy High School participated in the PMEA Region 4 Band Festival which was held at Jersey Shore High School March 7-9,. The festival featured over 150 of the best high school musicians from over 40 school districts.

The guest conductor was Colonel Timothy Foley, past director of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. The festival host was Chris Lahr from Jersey Shore Area High School.



All State Band

The Pennsylvania Educator’s Association announced that Kellen Kane from Shikellamy High School was selected to perform in the PMEA All State Band Festival which was held at the Warner Theater in Erie, April 18-20. The festival featured over 150 of the best high school musicians from the state of Pennsylvania. Kellen had a successful marching band season as he was crowned Best Drum Major in Tournament of Bands Group 2 and received two scholarships from Tournament of Bands.

The guest conductor was Dr. Dennis Layendecker from the George Mason University School of Music. The festival host was Steven Nawrocki from Iroquis Junior-Senior High School.
