MONTOURSVILLE – A $741,268 resurfacing project along a 1.6-mile section of Route 44 through Allenwood in Gregg Township, Union County, began this morning and will continue most of the summer.
The two-lane roadway from the Northumberland/Union county line at the river bridge, west to the intersection with Route 1014 (White Deer Baptist Church Road) will be resurfaced. This includes both sides of the intersection of Routes 15 and 44. Other work includes roadway base repairs, drainage improvements, guiderail upgrades and line painting.
During the work, the road will have single-lane closurers with flaggers directing traffic flow. The project is scheduled to be completed in late August.
