KYDEX, LLC, SEKISUI America Corporation, and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble collaborate for a day of free science and art

— BLOOMSBURG — On Aug. 2, KYDEX, LLC, Sekisui America Corporation, and the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble are teaming up to offer free science workshops during Science and Technology: For Real! for rising fourth and fifth grade students (students in grades 2014/2015 school year) in the Bloomsburg, Central, and Southern Columbia School districts. Chemists and engineers from KYDEX and Sekisui will teach hands-on experiments featuring the science behind products that improve our lives and keep us safe.

Science and Technology: For Real!: Aug. 2. This free event held 9 to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Bloomsburg High School cafeteria

Each workshop includes the same four experiments that explore how science and technology improve our lives and keep us safe with products we use every day: perfect for the budding scientist, engineer, or overall curious mind. Enrollment of up to 30 students in each workshop is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register at www.bte.org by July 15.

Noh Training Project’s Torchlight Performance of Hagoromo: Aug. 1 and 2. This free event is open to the public at sunset at the Bloomsburg Town Park Bandshell.

NTP will present torchlight performances of the Noh play Hagoromo featuring projected English subtitles, unusual instruments, and magnificent costumes. Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and enjoy a glimpse of one of the oldest theatrical forms in the world seldom seen outside of Japan.
