4-H Teen Day Away

ELYSBURG — On July 30, the Penn State Extension held its annual 4-H Teen Day Away event. Twenty-six 4-H’ers, age 13 to 18, from Montour, Northumberland, Lycoming, Columbia, Union, and Snyder counties gathered at Knoebel’s Amusement Park.

The event provided the participants with a fun-filled day in which they could play games, engage in activities, and get together with 4-H’ers from other counties.

Teen Day Away began with a few Minute-To-Win-It games, in which the 4-H’ers competed to win games such as Baby Rattle, Noodling Around, Movin’ on Up, and Face the Cookie.

During the rest of the afternoon, the 4-H’ers had the opportunity to explore the park’s carousel, coal-mining, and history museums; see the eagle exhibit and talk with one of the eagle caretakers; and go on a scavenger hunt throughout the park.

Teen Day Away is an event hosted by the Penn State Extension 4-H. For more information about participating in 4-H or volunteering as a leader, visit the 4-H link at www.extension.psu.edu or call (800) 851-9710.
