Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village to hold therapy dog parade

— LEWISBURG — Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village will host a “therapy dog parade” from 1 to 3 p.m. April 5 in the village health care center, 189 E. Tressler Blvd.

According to Gretchen Nash of the village staff, the event will include “food, fun, and games, with proceeds benefitting area therapy dogs,” which are trained to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement communities, nursing homes, schools, hospices, and disaster areas, as well as to people with learning disabilities.

In addition, the Diakon senior living community is seeking donations to support the local rescue program, “Please Re-Leash Me,” which helps to bring therapy dogs to village residents. Donations may include dog toys, food, bedding, and accessories and should be brought to the “dog house” located in the lobby of the village health care center.

For information on the therapy dog parade, contact Nash at (570) 523-4285.
