PENNS CREEK — On April 27, the Snyder County Conservation District held its Sixth Women in Ag Forum at the Shade Mountain Winery. Fifty women, staff and speakers enjoyed an informative and relaxing day.
Rachel Naylor, nutrient management technician, gave an informative presentation on “Do I need a manure management plan or a nutrient management plan?” Deputy Lucas Bingman enlightened the participants on firearm regulations and the current farm vehicle regulations. Heather Hibbs, Treadle Treasures, entertained the group with her reproduction Civil War attire. Snyder County Commissioner Peggy Chamberlain-Roup delighted the attendees with her witty analogies of women in agriculture. Wendy Hoke from the PA Department of Health in Snyder County explained the importance of immunizations that young and old should have. The women were entertained by Tabby Hauck, SUN Area Dairy Miss who selected three participants and had a milk tasting contest. Jeanette Blank discussed her role and duties as the 2012 Beaver Fair Queen. Free blood pressure screenings were offered by Kathleen Bingman, R.N. Evangelical Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist. Lunch was catered by Common Grounds Café, Middleburg.
