MIFFLINBURG — Local vegetable and greenhouse growers are invited to attend the Central Susquehanna Vegetable and Greenhouse Meeting from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Carriage Corner Restaurant in Mifflinburg. The morning session will provide information on soil health and water management, pollinators and pesticide stewardship, and an update on the Food Safety Modernization Act requirements. Industry representatives will be on hand exhibiting their products.
In the afternoon growers can choose from either the vegetable tract or the greenhouse tract. The vegetable tract will focus on disease management in vine crops, hot water treatment to control disease, growing strawberries on plastic, pollinators in vine crops, and farm risk management. The greenhouse tract will focus on the top insect pests of 2013, managing viruses in the greenhouse environment, and exciting new herbaceous perennials.
