Volunteer tutors recognized for service

— MILTON — A group of volunteer tutors with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) Adult Education programs recently were recognized for their service to the community at a banquet.

After a brief welcome by Julie Shumaker, CSIU adult education program manager, she then thanked the volunteers for their dedication and service to the students enrolled in adult education programs.

Volunteer tutors assist students with their educational goals, such as improving math and reading skills. They also help students improve soft skills, and provide assistance in writing a resume.

The CSIU offers instruction in basic and advanced skills for adults without high school diplomas; classes to help adults prepare for the GED test, post-secondary education, and the workforce. Sites are located in Bloomsburg, Lewisburg, Milton, Selinsgrove and Shamokin.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer tutor, contact Rhonda at (570) 523-1155, ext. 2327. For more information about the CSIU Adult Education programs, visit www.csiu.org/AdultEd.
