SELINSGROVE — Amy Swartz, a history teacher at Warrior Run High School, was awarded the Russell Galt Award for outstanding high school educators from Susquehanna University. The award was presented during Susquehanna’s annual University Scholars recognition dinner on Nov. 1.
The award is presented in honor of the late Russell Galt, dean of Susquehanna University from 1938 to 1959. Galt believed that education must be practical as well as theoretical, and maintain a strong commitment to the development of character and values. The award is presented to outstanding educators at the secondary level who have had a significant impact on their students’ academic success.
Swartz was nominated for the honor by Zachary Mull, a sophomore at Susquehanna. Mull nominated Swartz for the award because, “she taught with so much passion, passion I have never come across again.”
