MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for March. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Emma Zechman, sixth grade, is the daughter of Kenneth and Bethany Zechman, of Glen Iron. In school her favorite subjects are communications and science, and she is a member of the school chorus. She is a member of the Caravan at Mifflinburg Nazarene Church, and goes to Enterline’s Dance Studio for ballet and baton. In her spare time Emma likes to read, draw, listen to music, and be with her friends. In the future she would like to be a professional dancer or a teacher.
Tyler Bailey, seventh grade, is the son of Deb and Lee Bailey, of Mifflinburg. Social studies is his favorite subject in school, and he is a member of the cross country team in the fall and junior high soccer in the spring. Also, he is a member of the community swim team, the indoor soccer and AYSO soccer teams, and a member of the youth fellowship at his church. Other things Tyler enjoys doing are deer and turkey hunting, and spending time with family and friends. In the future he would like to be an architect.
Katelyn Ericson, eighth grade, is the daughter of Tracy and Joe Ericson, of Mifflinburg. Music and communications are her favorite subjects in school where she is in the school choir and the National Junior Honor Society. She is a member of the youth group at her church and she is a guitar and bass player with her church’s worship team. She also plays acoustic guitar, ukulele, and piano. Katie enjoys singing, writing, and spending time with friends. In the future, she is considering doing mission work after graduation.
