The Daily Item

— DANVILLE — The Montour Motorcycle Riders will be riding for the Save Chris Transplant Fund on Sept. 14. Registration for this fundraiser is $20 and will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Smokehouse Bar & Grill at 587 Valley Pond Road in Danville. The ride leaves at noon and will arrive at the Scarlet D in Mifflinburg around 5 p.m. where a meal will be served. People can use any type of vehicle to participate. All proceeds will go to the Transplant Fund.

Chris Geisige is a Mifflinburg resident who has cystic fibrosis (CF) and she is on the transplant list at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The average lung transplant costs about $650,000 and about 80 percent is paid by insurance. The remaining $130,000 is paid by the person/family. Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis, Inc. (PACFI), has already contributed $1,000 to the fund and PACFI encourages other businesses, organizations, and/or individuals to donate.

People who aren’t able to participate but want to donate can make a check out to the Save Chris Transplant Fund and mail it to the Save Chris Transplant Fund, c/o Mifflinburg Bank & Trust Company, 250 East Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
