Geisinger, Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit to host panel on the treatment of students with special needs

— MILTON — Local educators, teachers and social workers are invited to attend “From the Clinic to the Classroom: An Update on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Students with Special Needs.” This panel is presented by Geisinger Health System’s Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI) in partnership with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU).

The panel will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the CSIU Conference & Learning Center, 90 Lawton Lane. Thomas D. Challman, M.D., medical director, ADMI, Brenda M. Finucane, M.S., C.G.C., associate director, ADMI, and Marissa W. Mitchel, M.S., C.C.C.-S.L.P., speech language pathologist, ADMI, will be presenting.

Topics include “Treatment of Children with Developmental Disorders: Science, Non-science and Nonsense,” “What’s so Special about Genetics? Practical Implications of Genetic Diagnoses for Children with Special Needs” and “Resources and Strategies for Children with Complex Communication Needs.”
