HUMMELS WHARF — On June 10, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce held its 12th Annual Golf Classic at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. Despite the weather conditions, the Chamber sponsors and members braved the rain to raise funds to help benefit the Young Americans Program. With over 100 registered golfers, this is one of the highest attended golf tournaments.
The Young Americans program is the only one of its kind in the Susquehanna Valley, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments of students in 11 participating high schools for their achievements in academic and extra-curricular activities. Every year, the Young Americans participate in a seminar to learn about their role in the future of the Greater Susquehanna Valley and are celebrated with a banquet in May.
Throughout the course, players had the opportunity to participate in prize holes and contests made possible by hole-in-one sponsor, Zimmerman’s Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Truck. Extra “help” was provided to the players courtesy of human mulligan, Mike Wimer, of Swineford National Bank, the premier sponsor.
The Chamber would also like to thank hole and tee sponsors as well as our numerous gift contributors.
