LEWISBURG — An 18th-century Muzzleloader Shoot, one of several remaining Union County Bicentennial (1813-2013) events, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Union County Historical Society’s Dale/Engle/Walker House at 1471 Strawbridge Road in Buffalo Township.
This shooting competition between chosen Union and Snyder county re-enactors will provide an experience in the sights and sounds of a bygone era. Participants in the black powder event will be in period dress with period accoutrements and flintlock rifles. The teams will shoot three relays consisting of steel silhouettes, corn cob on a string and a stake shoot so that the target hits can be seen by the spectators. The winner of the best out of the three relays will be the winning county team.
There will be time available after the shoot to visit with the re-enactors and learn more about colonial firearms. Bring a lawn chair; hearing protection is advisable.
