Lewisburg Shade Tree Commission Arbor Day Event

The Daily Item

— LEWISBURG — The public is invited to join the Lewisburg Shade Tree Commission (STC) on Arbor Day, April 25, at 5:30 p.m., south of St. Louis Street between South Fifth and South Sixth streets, to celebrate by planting a native sycamore tree near Bull Run.

There will be a short ceremony that will include a mayoral proclamation, the presentation of a Tree City USA award to the Borough, and the recognition of Citizens’ Electric as a “Tree Line USA” award winner. After the ceremony, instead of the usual tree walk, the STC will host an educational outreach event regarding the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive species from Asia which is decimating ash trees in the United States.
