MAEA donates to the District's Caring Fund

— MILTON — Milton Area Education Association (MAEA) recently donated $2,000 to Milton Area School District’s Caring Fund.

In addition to assisting district students who need glasses, food, clothing or emergency medical care, the Caring Fund has also helped families cover the costs of field trip expenses and summer programs.

“The fund was started in February 2002 and to date has raised and allocated $69,885.73 and helped 1,026 students,” said Elizabeth Anderson, Caring Fund representative and Baugher Elementary School guidance counselor.

The money for the donation was raised through staff participation in the District Dress Down Days, which also has funded three scholarships as well as donations to the Outstanding Senior Banquet, Milton Relay for Life, T.I.M.E., and more.

All donations to the Caring Fund go directly to children and their families, said Anderson. “No one is paid out of the fund and we never have expenses paid for through that money.”

Donations can be sent to the MASD Caring Fund, c/o Elizabeth Anderson (Caring Fund Representative) at James F. Baugher Elementary School, 60 Brenda Rovenolt Circle, Milton, PA 17847.
