MIFFLINBURG — A summer reading kick-off celebration is planned for June 5 at the Mifflinburg Community Park. This all-age event is slated for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and children can dig into history, dig for buried treasure, dig in the dirt, and learn about vehicles and people that dig for a purpose. Children can also talk with our friends from T&D’s Cats of the World about animals that dig and burrow.
Award-winning children’s performer Steven Courtney will take center stage at the gazebo at 6:30 p.m. Courtney has performed over 5,200 concerts, recorded 30 full-length albums and produced an award-winning children’s television show. He is the recipient of the 2011 Parents Choice Award for his album Million Smiles to Go, as well as seven Children’s Music Web Awards. He has also received the Apreggio Award for “Outstanding Work with Children” through the arts.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served and children can create their own “dirt” or “sand” dessert.
