LEWISBURG — Lewisburg area residents and university students who are in the Lewisburg area over the holiday season are asked to consider volunteering two hours of their time to serve the needy in our community by carrying bags of food at the Eastern Union County Supplemental Food Program. The Food Bank, located in the basement of the First Baptist Church at the corner of South Third and St. Louis streets, usually has a group of volunteer students from Bucknell University to assist with this activity. However, those students will have returned to their homes over the term break. Consequently, there will be a critical shortage of much needed help for the distributions on Dec. 20 and Jan. 3 from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed for each of those dates.
This would be a good opportunity for students who are home from their respective colleges and universities, and residents to meet one another as they serve others. Residents are asked to join with these students in participating in this activity. Additional information is available by calling (570) 523-6898.
