2014 NEPA Reg. Bridge Building Competition

— Letters of invitation have been mailed to all public and private schools in the Northeast quadrant of Pennsylvania by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Bridge Building Committee. Schools are invited to select three students to represent their school in a unique educational experience that requires no registration fee of the school or student participant, all expenses are covered by sponsors. Students are encouraged to check with their teachers and/or administration to obtain the particulars. Students, parents, teachers and administrators are asked to visit the website for detailed information and specific information regarding the competition. The bridge building competition will be held Feb. 9 in the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City (Exit 191A of Interstate 81). The objective of the competition is to provide an educational learning experience for secondary students to apply their understanding of scientific and engineering principles to everyday experiences, in this case bridge structures. The program in turn hopes to encourage youth to investigate career opportunities in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. The first and second place regional winners are eligible to compete at the international competition in Chicago, Ill. at a time and date to be announced later.
