LEWISBURG — In September, Brooks Gronlund, president of the Green Dragon Foundation, presented a check in the amount of $12,006.46 to the Lewisburg Area School District.
One of the programs that received funding was the Lewisburg Area High School fall play, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Play performances were held on Nov. 15 and 16 at LAHS. According to Gronlund, this gift was made possible through a memorial gift from the family of Bruno V. Garisto.
LAHS play director, Roberta Pickering stated “I was thrilled to receive this donation and cannot thank Mrs. Garisto and the Green Dragon Foundation enough. Our students benefitted from this very generous gift and it really made a difference in this year’s fall play and I hope for many more in the future.”
Pickering continued, “This gift allowed us to have a cast of 35 students, purchase additional stage make-up for all of the cast members and pay for their professional costumes and props.” She concludes “The gift was directly used for the students in the show and it enhanced their performances.”
According to Gronlund, “A gift such as this has a very positive effect on Lewisburg students. We are so grateful to the family of Bruno V. Garisto for their generosity. What a difference their gift made to our students.”
The Green Dragon Foundation is seeking financial support to continue funding exciting initiatives. Individuals or businesses wishing to volunteer or donate can visit the organization’s website at www.greendragonfoundation.org or call the Foundation’s office at (570) 522-8433.
