MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for September. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Mollie Bomgardner, sixth grade, is the daughter of Daryl and Carrie Bomgardner, of Mifflinburg. In school, her favorite subject is social studies, and she is a member of the school chorus. She is a member of the 4-H Club, a member of the youth group at her church, and enjoys gallet and tap dancing. Basketball is her favorite sport. Mollie likes reading and biking, and in the future she would like to be a teacher.
Rebecca Haines, seventh grade, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Haines Jr., of Mifflinburg. Math is her favorite subject in school, and she plays field hockey. She is a member of the Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Association, and the Keystone Junior Rodeo Association. Her favorite things to do are riding horses and spending time with friends. In the future, Rebecca would like to be a horse trainer.
Liam Holohan, eighth grade, is the son of Brian and Denise Holohan, of Mifflinburg. Social studies is his favorite subject in school, where he is a member of the National Junior Honors Society, and is a member of the lacrosse team. He is a member of CCD at St. George Church. Other things he likes to do are play ice hockey and travel to other countries. In the future Liam would like to be a chef or restaurant owner.
