LEWISBURG — On Sept. 29, Alice Rauch, Chaplain at RiverWoods, organized residents and volunteers to participate in a Crop Walk held on the RiverWoods campus. Participants followed a walking path that circled around the RiverWoods community and was marked with volunteers to direct the traffic.
The Crop Walk is an event sponsored by the Church World Service organization and it is used to raise funds to help fight hunger around the world. “Some people have to walk miles for food,” reported Alice, “we walk to be in communion with those people.”
According to Alice, the RiverWoods group raised $643. Twenty-five percent of these proceeds will remain in the Lewisburg area to assist local food banks, pantries, community gardens and other hunger-fighting initiatives.
