Linn Conservancy Sponsors “Discovering a Sense of Place”

— LEWISBURG — The Merrill Linn Conservancy is offering a seven-week reading and discussion group that will focus on becoming more attentive residents of our home landscape and ecosystem and the value that has to our communities in Union, Snyder and Northumberland counties.

“Our goal with Discovering a Sense of Place is to create a space where folks who feel connected to our woods and fields and waterways will meet up and share conversation about how to understand and care for this beautiful place,” says Sarajane Snyder, chair of the Conservancy’s Education Committee.

The course is centered around an anthology of short essays collected into chapters for each week that have a theme such as “mapping your place” or “building local community.” “We hope to attract local residents with a diversity of experience and history with the land so that we can have great conversations,” she said.

The seven-week course will be offered in two separate sessions, one on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 25 and the other on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until noon beginning on March 1. The location of the sessions will be announced on a later date. The fee for the course is $40, which includes reading materials. Conservancy members will receive a discounted price of $35. Participants must register no later than Feb. 12 by calling (570) 524-8666 or emailing linn@ptd.net.
