MIDDLEBURG — The Snyder County Conservation District will be holding two manure management plan writing workshops on Feb. 27 at its office located at 10541 Route 522, Middleburg. One workshop will be held from 9 a.m. a.m. to noon while the other workshop will be from 6 to 9 p.m.
Farmers will leave the workshop with knowledge and information to complete a manure management plan workbook that meets current environmental regulations enforced by PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). These manure management plans are now required by any person who raises animals, produces or receives animal manure. Individuals who even raise one steer, one goat, one sheep, etc, are required to have a manure management plan.
Register with the Conservation District by Feb. 15 by calling (570) 837-3000 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions about the workshops or manure management planning can be forwarded to Barry Spangler, agricultural conservation technician, (570) 837-3000, ext. 118. Financial support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection through the Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant and the Clean Water Fund
