CDL Classes at PA CareerLink

— SUNBURY — In response to high demand for workers in the truck driving industry, PA CareerLink Northumberland, Snyder, Union Counties at Sunbury and Professional Drivers Academy in Milton Industrial Park are offering a new workshop twice monthly. “Transportation Tuesday” will be offered May 6 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and May 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the CareerLink in Sunbury.

These sessions will introduce the process required to attain a CDL license, review possible funding sources, and feature former students and representatives from over-the-road and short run trucking companies, and local  transportation companies hiring auxiliary positions such as yard jockey, dock workers or warehousing/logistics positions.  Representatives from Veriha Trucking, Autoneum, Union/Snyder Transportation Alliance and Dempsey Uniform will present information about jobs with their companies on both dates.

The demand for CDL A license holders has skyrocketed and far outpaces supply. High industry wages coupled with short term training offer an outstanding return on investment. Additionally, jobs in transportation that do not require special license are available within many organizations. Those interested in considering possible careers in transportation are invited to attend these information sessions. The PA CareerLink is located at 225 Market St. on the third floor of the Sunbury Municipal Building, next to the courthouse. Free parking for customers is offered directly behind the building. Call (570) 988-7300 to reserve a spot.
