MIFFLINBURG -- The recipients of the January ASPIRES award, given monthly at the Mifflinburg Intermediate School, have recently been announced by principal, Scott Zimmerman. Students in grades three through five are selected by their teachers to receive this award based on their good character and positive attitudes as stressed in the school’s anti-bullying program. Each student will receive a special certificate and a cash award at the May awards program.
Chloee Gemberling, daughter of Chris and Cowell Gemberling, of New Berlin, is a student in Mrs. Ender’s third grade homeroom. Her favorite class is keyboarding and she is active in the Good News Club, swim team, Scouts and also helps at the Herr Library. She enjoys the Friday Fun Nites at her church and hopes to become a pre-school teacher and a mom.
In Mr. Underkoffler’s fourth grade homeroom, Hayle Stoltzfus is being recognized. She is the daughter of Mike and Lori Stoltzfus, of Mifflinburg and her favorite class is art. She enjoys horseback riding, listening to music and spending time with her parakeets. She also is involved in her church’s Kids Connect program and she hopes to become a veterinarian.
Mackenzie Richard is in Mr. Moyer’s fifth grade homeroom. She is the daughter of Tonya and Jessie Aigler and her favorite class is music. She plays flute in the band, is in the chorus and the Art Club. Outside of school, she enjoys crafting and her church youth activities. Mackenzie would like to become a lawyer.
