MIFFLINBURG — Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International recently presented books to libraries in the Mifflinburg Area School District. Sigma Chapter, founded in 1947, reflects membership spanning 18 school districts, three colleges and the CSIU. The books were financed by an annual grant funded by the Cat in the Hat project of this local chapter.
Books were presented to Lynn Tanner, librarian of the Mifflinburg Elementary School, by members Kelly Snayberger, fifth grade teacher, and Jennifer Harter, kindergarten teacher, members of Sigma Chapter.
Sigma Chapter members of Delta Kappa Gamma Mary Lou O’Brien, Marianne Piorkowski, and Debra Gillott presented books in the newly renovated high school library to Principal Glenn Fogel.
Delta Kappa Gamma International, founded at the University of Texas in 1929, arose from the need for an organization of women teachers, united by friendship and a common purpose, for the betterment of women teachers and the improvement of schools generally. The Cat in the Hat project is one of many the organization sponsors.
