Selinsgrove Area High School attends Region 23 Leadership Conference

SELINSGROVE — The Selinsgrove Area High School FBLA attended the Region 23 Leadership Conference on Dec. 17 at Susquehanna University. Students who were not competing in performance events attended workshops conducted by Craig LeCadre, PA Attorney General’s Office; Tammy Bonawitz, public relations and marketing, Geisinger Health Systems; Dr. James Pomykalski, SU and students from SIFE; Snyder County Commissioners, Joe Kantz and Malcolm Derk; Parente Beard Accounting Firm, and PACPA.

Over 360 high school students from 12 high schools in East Central Pennsylvania attended the event hosted by Selinsgrove High School FBLA. Objective tests were given at the home schools in topics such as Entrepreneurship, Global Business, Business Calculations, Accounting, to name a few. Performance events took place at the RLC and included events such as Public Speaking I & II, Job Interview, Emerging Business Issues, Impromptu Speaking, and Business Ethics.

The following students won a regional event for the privilege to compete at the state level: Bobby Lamont, Mikayla Kuhns, Mike Ede, Global Business, firstplace; Max Plajer, Technology Concepts, first place; Kate Plajer, Business Calculations, first place; Gabriele Singh, Health Care Management, first place; Patrick Charvat, Economics, first place; Shane Keller, Accounting, third place; Chelsey Steele, Client Service, first place; Nick Ney and Nathan Long, Entrepreneurship, first place; Ben Kahn, Business Law, third place; Matt Wolfe, Accounting, first place; Kelsey Ulrich, Accounting II, fourth place; Brianna Herrold, Electronic Portfolio; Courtney Conrad and Noelle Markle, Emerging Business Issues, second place; Bailey Johnson Impromptu, second place; Oliver Beale Public Speaking II, third place; Kealy Howell Job Interview, fourth place; Kelsey Ulrich Accounting II, fourth place; Colton Conrad Personal Finance, fourth place
