Pups were pampered and owners were educated Saturday at the Barctoberfest sponsored by Boyertown Area Responsible Canine Owners.
The volunteer organization is raising funds to establish and maintain a dog park in Boyertown. The group plans to present Barctoberfest annually.
The event at Boyertown Community Park was free for both human and four-legged visitors.
It was designed to educate local dog lovers on responsible ownership of canines.
Activities and services available at the afternoon event that the organization called "the biggest dog party of the year" included a dog licensing booth, reduced-price microchip services, a $10 rabies clinic by Patt Animal Hospital, free Rita's Italian Ice "pupsicles" and clipping and painting of dogs' nails.
