— SUNBURY - As part of National Education week, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce held an essay contest for students in 11th and 12th grade.
Sunbury Christian Academy received two of five top honors in this essay contest. Students in the four-county area were encouraged to participate by writing an essay discussing their rights and responsibilities regarding quality education.
A total of 54 essays were submitted. Essays were judged based on their spelling and grammar, creativity and originality, how they incorporated the theme throughout the essay and whether or not they met the initial instructions given.
SCA 11th grade students Gatlyn Troutman and Tiffany Billings, placed first and second, respectively, in the contest. Gatlyn will receive $500 for his accomplishment, and Tiffany will receive $200 for her accomplishment.
