SHAMOKIN DAM — Police swarmed Routes 11-15 on Monday after a masked man entered a bank and robbed it before darting away on foot.
At about 2:45 p.m., Shamokin Dam police were called to the Mifflinburg Bank & Trust Co. for a robbery that had just occurred.
Within minutes, police from Shamokin Dam, Selinsgrove and Sunbury and state police at Selinsgrove arrived at the bank and began searching the area for the suspect.
Shamokin Dam police Chief Tim Bremigen said the man was described as 5-foot-10 to 6-foot and wearing a black jacket and gray hoodie. His face was covered by the mask. The man did not display a weapon, Bremigen said. No one was injured.
The alleged suspect was last seen running south, headed for the Old Trail Road, police said.
The man could have had a vehicle nearby, Bremigen said.
For more than an hour, officers combed through back yards and parking lots, searching for clues that could lead them to the suspect.
Police also drove slowly through the streets and stopped and talked with people who may have encountered or seen the man.
Officers would only say an undetermined amount of cash was taken. Police still were at the scene at 6 p.m., working with bank officials on reviewing video surveillance footage.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the robbery is asked to call Snyder County 911 Center.
