SELINSGROVE — The Selinsgrove Supervised Summer Playground Program is a free service offered to the residents. Hosted at Major Anthony Selin Park on Sassafras Street, counselors will be present throughout the day offering structured programming for children who have completed first grade through 12 years old. The program is supervised and staffed by enthusiastic university students who are ready to engage the children and create a summer they will never forget.
All summer, kids will be able to get outside and be active with a wide range of exciting activities, fun games, and special guests. The program will run, weather dependent, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Supervision for children at the park will be offered all day, however, lunch will not be provided. Parents are required to make arrangements for their child’s lunch prior to arrival each morning.
This summer’s theme is mythology, focusing on a different myth each week. Each day there will be an activity based on the myth of the week. Next week’s myth is Icarus and Daedalus reminding your kids not to fly to close to the sun. Some of next week’s activities will include arts and crafts such as creating wings, swords, paper pottery, Greek goddesses along with fun games.
There is no registration or fee required, and children are invited to attend as often as they like. For more information please visit their Facebook page, or email SelinsgroveSummerProgram@gmail.com.
