The Daily Item

— The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax preparation for low to moderate income individuals who would like help preparing their taxes. The program is limited to those filing non-itemized returns. A qualified volunteer will assist you in filing your taxes and assess if you qualify for tax credits.

Are you a senior citizen or permanently disabled? You may qualify for the PA property tax/rent rebate program. Eligible persons may receive up to $650. Volunteers can help determine if you qualify and assist in completing the form.

This program is offered through the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency and AmeriCorps.

Locations: The Snyder County East Building (formerly the Selinsgrove CareerLink) at 713 Bridge St., Selinsgrove, and The Lewisburg Government Center, 155 North 15th St., Lewisburg. All appointments can be made after Jan. 20 by calling Laura LaGrave, AmeriCorps member at (570) 374-0181 ext.147.
