CELEBRATION OF SINGING/Selinsgrove

Susquehanna University’s Department of Music present “A Celebration of Singing,” at 8 p.m. in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art. Features the university’s choral ensembles and Opera Studio. Free.

Saturday, Oct. 5,, Selinsgrove Region

SEAFOOD SUPPER/Kreamer

The Kreamer Volunteer Fire Company hosts a seafood supper from 5-7 p.m. Homemade crabcakes, freshly breaded haddock and oysters, shrimp, french fries and macaroni and cheese will be served. Take outs are available.

SUPPER & KARAOKE/Selinsgrove

A benefit supper/karaoke held at Post 25 American Legion. All-you-can-eat chicken and waffle dinner served from 4-7 p.m. Includes chicken and waffles, mashed potatoes, vegetable, iced tea, coffee and dessert. Cost is $8. Karaoke at 8 p.m. with D&D. Benefit for Chad Lauver to help defray medical costs. Snacks and door prizes.

FALL FEST/Selinsgrove

A Fall Fest will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene, 543 West Sassafras St., just past Kidsgrove. There will be activities for all ages, including, Kan Jam/Ultimate Frisbee/Quoits and more. A chili cook-off will also be held. There will be $1 hot dogs, bowl of chili, funnel cakes and more, available.

COMEDY FUN NIGHT/Selinsgrove

Comedy Fun Night held at the Selinsgrove V.F.W., Route 522. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the show beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets available at the door for $12. Food available for purchase. A family organized event. Also, Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Benefits The Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation. Information, Sherry at (570) 259-1158.

PUPPET PERFORMANCE & DINNER/Selinsgrove

A fall puppet performance and dinner will be held at Christ Community United Methodist Church. The meatloaf dinner meal will start at 5 p.m. Cost is $6.50 for adult tickets and $3 for children. The puppet show will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Puppet show is free with a free-will offering. Hands Raised in Praise Puppet Team will perform Black Light Puppetry, songs and skits. SATURDAY SCIENCE/Selinsgrove

The Saturday Science program held 9 a.m.-noon in Room 131 of the Natural Science Center (New Science Building) at Susquehanna University. Children (elementary through middle school) invited to participate in a hands-on set of activities that explore the laws of thermodynamics (the science of heat and its relationship with energy and work). Program is free and sponsored by the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium and Susquehanna University. All children must be accompanied by a parent. RUMMAGE SALE/Shamokin Dam

Fort Augusta Court 127 Order of Amaranth rummage sale begins at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church recreation hall. Large size men and women’s clothes available along with food and drinks. Drop articles off at 7 p.m. Oct. 4.

SAFETY DAY/Shamokin Dam

Shamokin Dam Fire Company holds public safety day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Kmart parking lot. Features vehicle extrication demo, blood pressure checks, Life Flight, Smokey the Bear, Tiger Bounce and more.

Sunday, Oct. 6,, Selinsgrove Region

BALLROOM DANCE CLASS & PARTY/Freeburg

A ballroom dance class offered at 6:30 p.m., followed by a dance party at 7:30 p.m. This event will take place in a dance hall, attached to the garage, at 1 W. Front St. No partner necessary; no previous experience required. Children are welcome. For more information, call (570) 372-4205.

COACH PURSE & THIRTY ONE BINGO/Freeburg

The Freeburg-Washington Recreation Association will host a Coach Purse and Thirty-One Gifts bingo at the Freeburg-Washington Community Center, corner of Freeburg Road and Church Street. Games begin at 2 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. There will be 20 games of bingo which will include six special games, raffle prizes, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. A lunch stand will be available. FLU CLINIC/Selinsgrove

Evangelical Community Hospital’s Health and Wellness holds a flu clinic from 2-4 p.m. at the Selinsgrove Senor Center, 8 N. Water St. Vaccinations are available to individuals 3 years of age and older. Cost for a flu shot is $30 and pneumonia vaccines available for an additional $65. Bring insurance cards. In addition to the clinic appointments, can be made at the health and wellness center at 7095 W. Branch Highway, from 9 a.m.-noon Mondays, noon-4 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-noon or 1-3 p.m. Fridays. BALLET PERFORMANCE/Selinsgrove

A stellar ensemble of artists from Houston Ballet II will grace the stage of Susquehanna’s Degenstein Center Theater at 7:30 p.m. Artists will perform excerpts from Welch’s neoclassical work “A Dance in the Garden of Mirth”; a modern piece titled “Calling” by Ma Cong, principal dancer and resident choreographer for Tulsa Ballet; and the classic masterpiece “The Sleeping Beauty.” Tickets are available at the Susquehanna University Box Office, located in the Degenstein Center Theater lobby, or by calling (570) 372 (2787), noon to 5 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $5 for non-SU students.
