Midd-West student charged with making threat to kill teacher

MIDDLEBURG — A Midd-West High School student is facing criminal charges because school officials said he hurled death threats at a teacher in the school.

Middleburg police said the Feb. 6 incident began when a juvenile refused to heed teacher Dawn Getgen’s request to remove headphones.

The young student refused to listen and began yelling profanities and threatening to kill Getgen, court records said.

According to police, when the juvenile was sent to the office, another student, Tyler M. Sees, 18, of Mount Pleasant Mills, became agitated and verbally lashed out at the teacher in a hallway, saying, “I’m going to get you. I’m going to kill you for what you did.”

Another teacher and guidance counselor had to step in and escort Sees to the main office, court records said.

Sees admitted to borough police that he has been involved in an argument with Getgen and had refused to obey her instructions, but denied threatening her, court records said.

Charges of misdemeanor terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and summary harassment were filed against Sees.

A preliminary hearing before District Judge Lori R. Hackenberg is tentatively scheduled for March 27.
