SELINSGROVE — River explorers of all ages are invited to join Selinsgrove Projects Inc. members as they host the fifth annual River Paddle Sunday afternoon.
The free event offers anyone interested in an informative and fun guided tour of the Susquehanna River to assemble at Shady Nook boat launch by 11 a.m. for registration and transport - provided by SRI - of the vehicles to the take-out point at the Isle of Que boat launch for a 12:15 p.m. launch.
The estimated three-hour paddle will require some upstream paddling and will feature three-way point stops for brief programs about the river by Jim Charles, a knowledgeable Isle of Que native, and Jen Elick, professor of biology at Susquehanna University.
Only canoes and kayaks are allowed. Rentals are available at a discounted price of $10.00 for a single boat and $20.00 per tandem boat at Isle of Que River Guides. Paddlers should keep a towel in their vehicle for the trip home.
