SELINSGROVE — Miranda Beaver, 12, has earned the opportunity to attend the National American Miss Pageant to be held at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., during Thanksgiving week. Beaver will be representing the State of Pennsylvania, where she will have the opportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes.
The National America Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss Pageants awards $1.5 million in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. National American Miss has added the ultimate door prize to Nationals 2013. Each girl that qualifies for the national pageant has a chance to win a new 2013 Ford Mustang Convertible.
Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to 18 in five different age divisions.
Beaver’s additional activities and awards include Girl Scouts were she received the Bronze Award and is working on her Silver Award through volunteering at local nursing homes and helping younger Girl Scouts. She is working on a food drive for Haven Ministries in Sunbury. Beaver belongs to the jr. high cross country team at Selinsgrove, plays percussion in the middle school band and is active in her church youth group. She is the daughter of Matt and Zena Beaver, of Selinsgrove, and the granddaughter of Dorothy Beaver, of Selinsgrove and the late Roland Beaver, and Pamela Jareski of Lady Lake, Fla., and the late Charles Jareski.
Her sponsors include Weis Markets, Travel Depot, Globus Family of Brands, Roger and Denise Haddon, Dental Arts of Selinsgrove, family and friends.
