SHAMOKIN DAM — Borough residents are being warned of a possible scam by a couple going door-to-door claiming to represent a window replacement company and attempting to solicit business.
Shamokin Dam Police issued an alert Tuesday night about the potential scam and warned residents against allowing strangers inside their homes or providing personal information.
The police investigated reports of a black male and white female going to private residents at about 9 p.m. Tuesday claiming to represent a window replacement company and attempting to schedule upcoming dates to provide price quotes.
Police are not certain whether the couple legitimately represent the company, but added no one has registered with the department for a permit to conduct any solicitation in the borough.
All door-to-door salespeople must obtain a permit before they are allowed to solicit borough residents, police said.
Residents who witness any suspicious activity are asked to call Snyder County Emergency Services or the Shamokin Dam Police at 743-2671.
