SELINSGROVE — Allan E. Goodman, president of the Institute of International Education (IIE), will address graduating seniors and invited guests as the featured speaker at Susquehanna’s 155th commencement ceremony May 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the field house of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex.
The IIE is the leading nonprofit organization in the field of international educational exchange and development training. It administers the Fulbright program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and more than 250 other corporate, government and privately supported programs.
Goodman will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, as will former ambassador to Bahrain Donald C. Leidel, and Lucille M. Arthur, widow of 1949 Susquehanna graduate and emeritus board member Douglas E. Arthur.
Approximately 500 students are expected to graduate this spring.
Commencement day will begin with a Baccalaureate service, a festive ecumenical event of praise and thanksgiving, scheduled for 10 a.m. in Weber Chapel Auditorium. A commencement luncheon for graduating students and guests will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center’s Evert Dining Room.
