MIDDLEBURG — Second-degree murder, conspiracy and burglary charges will stand against Jennifer Snook for last February’s fatal stabbing of an elderly Beaver Township woman.
Snyder County Judge Michael T. Hudock upheld the charges after reviewing a transcript of the preliminary hearing and determining there was sufficient evidence.
Snook, 29, of Sunbury, is charged as an accomplice with her husband, Joshua Snook, 28, in the Feb. 17 slaying of his 71-year-old grandmother, Bonnie Snook. His grandfather, Dale Snook, survived the assault.
The young couple are accused of traveling to Joshua Snook’s grandparents home late at night to retrieve a gun they allegedly planned to use to confront a man he had argued with in a Northumberland County bar earlier that evening.
Authorities allege that Joshua Snook broke into his grandparent’s house, where his 9-year-old son from a prior relationship was also staying, to get the weapon and ended up assaulting the elderly couple.
Bonnie Snook died from a stab wound to the throat. Dale Snook was cut on the arm.
Joshua Snook faces nearly two dozen charges, including criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Both Snooks remain in custody awaiting trial.
